A large proportion of shipments are still accompanied by delivery bills in paper form. This has two serious disadvantages compared to a digital solution: Firstly, it creates a cumbersome paper trail without real-time information on the location and status of the goods. Secondly, paper production is particularly climate-intensive (despite recycling and resource-saving production methods). As a rule of thumb, one kilogram of paper requires more than twice its weight in wood.
However, there is still a lack of digital alternatives. The German industry association "Bundesvereinigung Logistik" has been working on a cloud-based digital delivery bill for some time. Following successful test phases and broad customer acceptance, the concept is now set to become the industry standard in the near future. However, the platform is still under construction.
If the concept catches on, every partner involved in a shipment will be able to access the delivery bill at any time, retrieve information and add signatures and comments. This solution is also more environmentally friendly and transparent than the paper alternative.
SpediFux is already making consistent use of the opportunities offered by digitalization and welcomes this development, which will make modern logistics even simpler and more sustainable. We look forward to a paperless future, which is already a reality at SpediFux today!
