The SpediFux API: simple, smart, digital! We asked our partners at Blexon AG about their experiences with the SpediFux software interface. This shows once again how much the future of logistics will be determined by digital solutions.
As a reliable partner for simple transport solutions, SpediFux is constantly working to improve its services and make them even smarter. With our in-house API, customers can integrate SpediFux transport logistics directly into their own digital systems. Its strengths are particularly evident in the e-commerce and B2B sectors, as the example of Blexon shows.
Blexon AG develops and operates an online platform for the simple procurement of individual CNC-manufactured sheet metal parts. The company, based in Galgenen (Schwyz), recognized the potential of digital business models early on and opened its online platform after a successful test phase.
Since then, Blexon has already delivered over 25,000 orders. Performance and service are being consistently expanded. In addition to laser-cut and folded sheet metal parts, it has recently become possible to calculate and order sheet metal parts with threads and countersinks, including powder coating. All that is required is a simple upload of a 3D CAD model of the desired sheet metal part.
Thanks to the fully digital concept, orders can be processed around the clock. The final price is also calculated immediately and not only on delivery. The data is then transmitted to the respective partner for production. This is followed by delivery by SpediFux.
API stands for Application Programming Interface and describes a programming interface that enables software to communicate seamlessly with another program. Why is the concept now indispensable in many places and what advantages does it offer?
With advancing digitalization and the triumph of web-based business models, the range of software on offer is also increasing. There are now countless individual solutions that are precisely tailored to the respective needs of a company.
However, this specialization makes communication between different in-house systems or those of other companies difficult. The countless options for planning and programming make it impossible to implement a standardized and universally valid method for data transmission.
The amount of work involved in programming a "home-made" interface is enormous. It often exceeds the capacities and know-how of IT departments. This is especially true for small and medium-sized companies.
However, if you are aiming for a "do-it-yourself" solution, extensive and complicated analyses of often several thousand lines of program code are required in advance. Even with well-documented applications, this work can take several months. The subsequent implementation of the solution is just as time-consuming. Even with careful work, manual solutions remain error-prone and require extensive testing.
This is where the strength of an API comes into play. It acts as an intermediary between the program and the digital outside world. This can be compared to an adapter that bridges two different video connections (such as HDMI and DVI) and enables smooth image transmission.
Well-implemented and carefully documented APIs offer IT specialists simple and quickly understandable access. They use established virtual communication tools with industry standards. This enables a quick connection to the in-house system with manageable effort.
Bruno Kaelin, Managing Director of Blexon, describes his company's experience of using the SpediFux API as consistently positive:
"Our customers can design and order cut-to-size sheet metal parts according to their individual requirements with just a few clicks - 24/7. Our digital process management guarantees transparent prices and fast, reliable delivery.
This is why APIs are a necessary prerequisite for cooperation with partners. With SpediFux, the planning and implementation of the software integration took place within two days and without any problems. Since then, the exchange between the systems has been error-free and seamless."
He particularly emphasizes the detailed and neat documentation, which makes the software interface easy to understand. SpediFux also provided immediate and competent support for queries and troubleshooting.
Sustainability is a particularly important concern for Blexon AG. However, packaging and transportation are generally particularly climate- and resource-intensive parts of the value chain.
This is another reason why logistics management with the SpediFux API is particularly attractive for the company, as digital data transmission and analysis enable means of transportation that are precisely tailored to the volume of a delivery. This minimizes the use of materials and avoids empty runs, thus protecting the climate and conserving resources in the best possible way.
Thanks to modern software, Blexon AG's business model works at all times, regardless of the volume and volume of orders. According to Managing Director Kaelin, the following advantages of API-based collaboration are of central importance:
In discussions with Blexon AG, the importance of the SpediFux API was described as a necessary criterion, without which cooperation between the companies in the transportation sector would not be possible.
In summary, the following strengths can be noted:
The API therefore provides a solid foundation for long-term cooperation with Blexon. Thanks to the digital coordination of the smart and simple SpediFux transport solution, deliveries to customers are reliable, cost-effective and fast.
