Rising energy prices and inflation also affect logistics

Inflation is here and is making itself felt in all areas. In the energy sector in particular, the war in Ukraine and CO2 taxes are driving up prices even further.

Fossil fuels are becoming more and more expensive, which reduces the profit margin of transportation with conventional vehicles. However, alternatives are rare. In principle, any move away from combustion engines is a good thing. However, switching to electric trucks, for example, is not necessarily cheaper, as electricity has also become significantly more expensive in recent months.

And it's not just about fuel: according to a survey by the warehousing and distribution network Warehousing1 , the price of everyday logistics materials such as cardboard boxes has tripled in some cases. One hundred percent of those surveyed stated that they were already feeling the effects of price developments. Around a quarter of them have already raised prices for end customers and two thirds plan to do so in the future. The situation in the industry is tense.
